Anna Belleforte
Anna Belleforte is interested in exploring the architecture of our lives, from the built environment to natural frameworks, and from the big scale to the small scale. Drawing on a background in architectural conservation, her mixed media work expresses something about the histories and significance of buildings and places, whether on a personal or collective level. She is always looking out for intriguing perspectives and contrasts expressed through architecturality, to develop ideas for new series. Her love of craftsmanship and the act of making by hand – distilling the essence of things at a manual and overseeable scale – motivated her to make the transition (back) to art. Now she draws, paints, cuts and pastes to build artworks that depict environments that are both familiar and estranged.
