BECKSY
Brought up in the Kent countryside, Becksy was inspired by the natural world around her from a young age.
A student of Kent Institute of Art and Design (now UCA), and the University of the Arts, London, Becksy developed a distinctive technique of painting with just a palette knife, which she uses to create her unique and light-hearted portraits of animals - from dogs and cats, to armadillos, rhinos and sharks! Always capturing the distinctive characters of her chosen subjects, each of her colourful creatures is made using just a palette knife, a prismatic array of oils, and Becksy’s irreverent eye and love of animals.
Now working from her studio in rural Gloucestershire with her German Wirehaired Pointer, Ralph, and assisted (somewhat) by her two children, George and Arrietty, Becksy has exhibited her works widely across the UK and America.
