David Choe
David Choe is an American street artist from Los Angeles also known as a journalist, musician and actor from Emmy award winning shows featured on both CNN and HBO. Choe has written and illustrated for urban culture magazines such as Vice and Hustler, created album covers for Linkin Park and Jay-Z and directed music videos for the likes of Dan The Automater (Gorillaz, Deltron 3030). It is no wonder he has been referred to as ‘the prince of all media’ by Howard Stern in 2012.
In terms of his imaginative paintings, Choe takes his inspiration from comics, gothic art, Surrealism, pornography, and fashion illustration. The artist uses oils, acrylics, and collage creating a seductive, mischievous, and complex narrative. Choe’s love of animals, quest for peace and redemption, and fascination with sex are evident in his work.
