Eduardo Paolozzi

Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005) was one of the most innovative and irreverent artists of the 20th century. Considered the ‘Godfather of Pop Art’, his collages, sculptures and prints challenged artistic convention, from the 1950s through to the Swinging Sixties and advent of ‘Cool Britannia’ in the 1990s.

Paolozzi was a prolific and inventive artist most known for his marriage of Surrealism's early principles with brave new elements of popular culture, modern machinery and technology. He was raised in the shadows of World War II in a family deeply affected by the divisive nature of a country involved in conflict, which birthed his lifelong exploration into the many ways humans are influenced by external, uncontrollable forces. This exploration would come to inform a vast and various body of work that vacillated between the darker and lighter consequences of society's advancements and its so-called progress. On the one hand, he would create abstract sculptures, which were dark and brutal in both material and form, portraying the idea of man as a mere assemblage of parts in an overall machine. On the other hand, he would create collages, brighter in nature that reflected the way contemporary culture and mass media influenced individual identity. Some of these collages, with their appropriation of American advertising's look and feel would inspire the future Pop Art movement.

We present here the Complete set of “Bunk”. Printed in 1972 set number 52/100. The Colophon is signed and numbered by Paolozzi. The total number of images is 46. In this box set Paolozzi signed 6 of the images (usually only 5 were signed). One of these signed is the Bunk image itself; ‘Evadne in Green Dimension’. The box is in good order and the prints are in excellent condition. Most of these ground-breaking sets have BEEN broken up and sold individually over the years, it is unusual to have the complete set.
