Huddie Hamper
Huddie Hamper is a rapidly rising star in the art world with his colourful and expressive paintings. An artist and musician hailing from Medway, he graduated with his BFA from Slade School of Fine Art in 2021 where he developed his unique and distinctive style of painting with thick, wavy brushstrokes that imitate movement. He has been prolific in his works ever since, featuring subjects such as humans, horses, and flowers. His paintings channel the work of his artistic inspirations such as Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, Vincent Van Gogh, Thèodore Gèricault, and Eugène Delacroix.
During the Covid lockdowns, he found himself living with his family and sharing a painting studio with his father, Billy Childish. During this time of reflection and isolation, he was wildly productive with his painting, allowing him to further explore the subject of self-portraiture as a way to express himself. He quotes, “You can have and see different versions of yourself that look very different, aesthetically different, it’s interesting.”
