Jayson Lilley
British artist Jayson Lilley is a master of contemporary printmaking, working at the forefront of his practice. Seamlessly blending the precision of screenprinting with painting, drawing, and collage, he creates awe-inspiring cityscapes infused with vibrant energy through his expressive use of fluid mark-making.
With a particular passion for urban landscapes, Jayson’s works have an architectural focus, reproducing familiar landmarks and iconic structures from the metropolis. Having grown up in a seaside village in Devon, the countryside still influences Jayson’s art however, as he usually sets his dynamic cityscapes at a distance against exaggerated, expansive skies, created using large areas of gold, copper, or platinum leaf.
“My infatuation comes by the shape that my chosen building or vista makes as it cuts its way into the sky - the negative space draws me in as much as the building itself”.
Emerging as an internationally recognised figure in printmaking over the past fifteen years, Jayson’s works can be found across the world, including New York, Japan, Hong Kong, and Moscow. He has previously been shortlisted for the Westmorland Landscape Prize and continues to exhibit widely.
