Katherine Van Uytrecht

Born in South Africa, Katherine Van Uytrecht graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town with a major in printmaking.

She has worked as a printmaker for Graphic Studio Dublin, Stoney Road Press, and privately for artists. She is currently a member of the Black Church Print Studio in Dublin and Grafik i Väst in Sweden.

She lived and worked in Dublin for over nine years, making and editioning prints and exhibiting in various shows in Ireland and internationally, before moving to London where she worked as Print Studio Coordinator at LPS (London Print Studio), Etching Technician at the Royal College of Art and Specialist Printmaking Technician at London College of Communication. She currently lives and works in London where she continues printmaking and teaching.

This body of work, Small Offerings, is based largely on her visits to Varanasi in India and Kathmandu in Nepal. “The prints are snapshots of the everyday, where the boundary between the sacred and the ordinary is blurred. It is in this haze that we can begin to uncover beauty in normal, day-to-day life and find gratitude, appreciation, and delight in the small things”.
