Banksy
A well-known, yet pseudo-anonymous English graffiti artist, political activist, film maker and painter. His art combines a dark humour with a distinctive stencilling technique.
It is believed that Banksy is possibly named Robin Gunningham, a native of Bristol who was born in 1974, but there is, nevertheless, substantial public uncertainty about his identity and basic biographical details.
Tristan Manco supports the idea that Banksy “was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England”, adding that as ”the son of a photocopier engineer, he trained as a butcher but became involved in graffiti during the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s.”
His artworks, often satirical pieces of art which encompass topics from politics, culture, and ethics, have appeared in London and in cities around the world.
